Save Money - Wedding Cake Alternatives

When shopping for a wedding cake, you must keep in mind the cost per person that you're aiming for.  Anywhere from $3 to $6 per person for a slice of wedding cake is typical.  It doesn't sound like a big difference in price but if you multiply the difference by 150 guests, it will add up.  To keep your costs lower, try these suggestions.  Look into getting a cupcake tree.  Cupcakes tend to be cheaper and guests will think this is a fun alternative.  The French have a dessert called croquembouche, which is a traditional dessert served at French weddings.   Essentially they're round pastries with custard piped into the middle, stacked in a tall pile and decorated.  It is an economical alternative to the traditional wedding cake and is different and sophisticated.  Lastly, wedding dinners typically already come with a dessert so you may even consider not having a cake at all.  And if you really must have a cake in your pictures, you could try renting a fake one.  A lot of reception facilities have them for rent - better yet, see if they could just throw that in for free!  (Remember your negotiations skills….if you don't ask, you don't get)!
